PLAYERS at Okehampton Rugby Football Club said a big thank you to McCarthy and Stone last week after the retirement developer signed as sponsors for the Under 18s Colts squad for the season.
The developer met players to see them debut in their new kit. Colts manager Ross Medlyn said: 'This is a very strong community club and with three senior teams, the Colts, and junior teams in every age group from Under 7s to Under 16s, we cater for a lot of people. On any weekend throughout the season we will have well in excess of 200 adults and children playing for the club.
'All of this is done through a dedicated group of volunteers from coaches and helpers to the ladies in the kitchen, and, it goes without saying that to run something on this scale takes a lot of money.
'This much appreciated sponsorship has been used to provide the Colts with a new playing strip. They have had a good season and look like finishing second in a very competitive merit table which hopefully will qualify the lads for the Devon Colts Cup semi-final.
'The club would like to thank in particular Michaela Gill and Deborah Waldeck for helping to arrange the sponsorship.'
McCarthy and Stone will sponsor the Colts throughout the 2010/11 season, which kicks off in September.
Aileen King, sales and marketing director for McCarthy and Stone South West, said: 'We have recently started construction at our River's Edge Court development in Okehampton and we're always keen to help the communities in which we build.'
