A TAVISTOCK resident has had his head shaved for charity as part of a fundraising venture for Children with Cancer UK.

George Mitchell’s headshave together with a quiz and raffle at the Market Inn raised £530. George is supporting Jenny Moore, also from Tavistock, who has secured a place to run in the London Marathon.

The mother of two young boys, Jenny will be running for Children with Cancer UK which funds more than 60 research projects across the country accelerating breakthroughs to help drive up childhood cancer survival rates and find kinder, more effective treatments to reduce long-term side effects.

The charity also funds patient family accommodation near hospitals so families can stay together during their children’s treatment.
