TAVISTOCK Wharf had a little help from its friends last week, as new volunteers came forward to offer their assistance in supporting the community arts venue.
The Friends of The Wharf support association has now been secured following an extraordinary general meeting last Friday, March 7, called owing to the urgent need to expand the committee.
However, a good attendance at the meeting resulted in a number of volunteers and the formation of a new committee.
A fund-raising sub-committee has also taken shape and plans to take part in this year?s Carnival.
The new committee thanks the retiring officers and members for their work and are delighted that Karen Harrison, Jo Albon and Paul Wren have decided to continue.
The new committee is: chairman, Jean Howard; secretary, Nikki Stephens; treasurer, Paul Wren (until annual meeting in May); treasurer elect, John McIver; membership secretary, Jo Albon, and members Karen Harrison, Sheena Odle, Mary Thompson, Maureen Smith and Chris Bickell.
Sheila Waters will continue to organise the box office rota and Mike Woodley will be looking after the stewards.
Over the last seven years, the Friends organisation has offered considerable support to the Wharf, providing volunteers and assisting financially.
