TIDY Tavi volunteers received some extra help with the monthly Tavistock litter pick when a Bank Square Artists' Market street performing stilt walker and her elegant assistant lent a hand to collect litter.
This month, 23 Tidy Tavi volunteers dodged the showers and collected 25 bags of litter dropped in the streets of Tavistock.
Areas from Glanville Road, Watts Road to Spring Hill were addressed, while other groups focused on the area around the Wharf and Bedford car parks, the bus station, Pixon Lane, Bedford Square, the churchyard and around the town centre toilets.
Cllr Debo Sellis pulled up weeds at the roundabout at Abbey Bridge. Callington and Plymouth Road were also litter picked.
Organisers of Tidy Tavi litter picks said in general, the litter situation in Tavistock was improving but the siting of extra litter bins would address areas such as Bedford Car Park where there are no bins at all.
They also said there is a growing issue of cigarette butts all over the town, particularly under benches and they are hopeful that these can be swept up by council staff.
The Tidy Tavi group meets at the Wharf Car Park at 9.50am on the first Saturday of the month. Anyone who would like to help can join the pick the September 1.
