THERE is an opportunity to enjoy seasonal music and drama at a special event in Tavistock this weekend, to raise funds for charity.
Tavistock student Lucy Clarke is putting on the concert to help victims of a hidden crime.
Acts for Justice takes place this Saturday, December 10, at Tavistock Methodist Church, presenting entertainment in a café style setting. This is the first event of a new local support group for charity Hope for Justice, which rescues victims of people trafficking. Lucy and her fiancé Andrew Jones were inspired to set up the group after hearing about the charity's work at a conference.
The concert starts at 7.30pm, and will include acts by local bands, Unite youth choir, and dramatist Tracy Harding. Light refreshments including mulled apple juice from a local farm will be available. Entry costs £3.50 (concessions £2.50). The church is next to Tavistock Bus Station and fully accessible.
Hope for Justice helps people in Britain who are victims of human trafficking: the sale, transport and profit from people who are forced to work for others against their will.
The problem is widespread and does affect the south west. The local support group will pray, fundraise, campaign and raise awareness.
