AN APPEAL to fulfil a three-year-old girl's dying wish to go to Disneyland is a step closer to reality this week, thanks to local newspaper readers.
Kimberley Stacey from East Cornwall has a rare form of brain and spinal cancer and been given a short time to live after doctors discovered three new brain tumours earlier this year.
Kimberley's aunt Sandra Bunt from Lamerton is co-ordinating an appeal to raise funds for Kimberley, her mum and dad and brothers and sisters to go back to Disneyland for a final holiday together.
Many people have donated from previous newspaper articles including Spring House Residential Care Home in Peter Tavy. Sandra said she had also had calls from Tavistock Trout Fishery which had offered a week-long stay for the family and other individuals and organisations.
A donation box has been put in the Blacksmith's Arms at Lamerton, Blades Hairdressers at St Ann's Chapel and Route 38 at Trerulefoot, which has raised money for Kimberley in the past.
So far the fund has reached £2,500 but Sandra hopes to raise around £5,000 so Kimberley's siblings can go with her.
'I would like to thank everyone who has donated and is doing what they can, we really appreciate it,' Sandra said.
'We are hoping the trip will be at the end of July.'
To make a donation contact Sandra Bunt on 07789 212928.
