PHOTOGRAPHERS in Devon are being called upon to get snappy for English Heritage.
The trust is looking for volunteers to take part in one of largest and most ambitious pictorial recording projects in England.
The National Monuments Record — English Heritage's public archive — is creating a photographic record known as Images of England, capturing England's listed buildings on film for future generations.
Devon has more than 20,000 listed buildings, including well-known landmarks such as castles, churches and houses, but also less well-known features like milestones, bridges and telephone boxes.
Once complete, the images will provide a pictorial history of the county to be added to the national collection.
Volunteer photographers will take a single exterior shot of each building which will then be added to the Images of England website alongside the building's statutory list description.
The website currently shows more than 90,000 images, including almost 4,000 from Devon — these can be viewed at http://www.imagesofengland.org.uk">www.imagesofengland.org.uk
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer photographer should contact Sarah Meaker on 01793 414643 — volunteers need not be professional photographers.
