I READ with interest your article (March 17) ?Replica of Beagle will take shape at Morwellham?. I am project manager to the said project and would like to express our thanks to both yourself and the crew at Morwellham. The people who inhabit this part of Devon are great, especially the people who operate Morwellham, they are so friendly and accommodating; that to say we are impressed would be an understatement. Nevertheless, we have arrived with a basic crew and would welcome the chance to involve some local people in the project, therefore, I wonder if I can ask the local people if they would like to join us, what we are looking for are ship/boat builders or people who will aspire to that aim. We can offer training in repairing small wooden traditional craft leading to building the Beagle. There is no definitive type of person; we are seeking, (any age any sex and with or without experience). We are based on the credo that we are a friendly close unit who welcome anyone who wants to see British traditional maritime skills being used and passed on. Should any of your readers want to join us to either help, learn or pass on their skills, they can contact me on the following, email, [email protected]">[email protected] or telephone 01752 342397.
