An officer from the fire service will be on hand to provide fire safety advice and advise you on how best to fireproof your home. They are particularly keen to raise awareness that fire deaths are on the increase in the South West, especially amongst the elderly.
The Fire and Rescue Service is encouraging elderly members of the community to contact them for a free home fire safety visit. They are also appealing to family members to refer their elderly friends and relatives for the visits. The service offers support to the hard of hearing and those with other disabilities as well.
Learn Devon will also be joining the Connect team this February to provide information on their adult learning classes.
They offer community learning courses, covering everything from computing to creative writing, animation to dress-making.
Centres across the county offer residents the opportunity to meet new people, gain key qualifications, or develop existing skills.
Other organisations out and about at the upcoming Connect sessions include Oakhouse Foods, Dartmoor National Park and the Citizens' Advice Bureau, to name just a few.
Everyone is welcome, and a borough council adviser will be present at every session to answer questions and provide information about a range of public and support services.
