Green-fingered people are being offered an opportunity to get their hands dirty and learn a new skill in a hedge-laying course.

A local group in Bere Ferrers has set up a wildlife area on the recreation field in the village where, among digging a pond and other things, they have planted a hedge.

The hedge now requires laying and the group has asked local expert Norman Gay to lead a hedge-laying course for anyone interested.

There will be up to ten places available on the day-long course, which takes place on Saturday February 20. It will run from 10am to 4pm, and a fee of £13 will be payable on the day.

Participants will need to wear suitable warm and waterproof clothing, including robust boots and gloves. A packed lunch and drinks will also be needed.

Booking for this course is essential. To book a place contact the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty team on 01822 835039.
