AN eco-friendly heating initiative designed to save householder's money and help improve the environment is being promoted in West Devon.

West Devon Council has adopted the Big Green Boiler Scheme and recently staged a fact-finding event for more than 30 registered heating installers in the area.

Modern condensing boilers are the most environmentally-friendly available, and can reduce heating bills by up to 30 per cent. This could mean a saving of more than £2,500 during the lifetime of the boiler.

Discounts have been negotiated on the price of condensing boilers which mean people need not pay more for a condensing boiler compared with a standard one.

Residents may also be able to apply for a grant of up to £200 towards the cost of a condensing boiler fitted through the Big Green Boiler Scheme. The grants are funded by the scheme and the borough council, but this offer is only available on a limited basis.

Householders or heating installers wanting to know more about the initiative, contact Kelly Gatland at the council on 01822 813555.
