GREAT Britain's women finished outside the medals at the modern pentathlon World Cup in Berlin.

Beijing 2008 Olympian Katy Livingston was the highest placed British finisher in Sunday's competition in 14th, with team-mate Mhairi Spence finishing 19th and Tavistock's Heather Fell coming 24th.

Olympic silver medalist Heather took 1160 points from the riding, to put her 27th, while Spence collected 1120 points from the ride to take her 14th.  

The Berlin World Cup was the final opportunity for athletes to score qualification points for the World Cup Final in Moscow later this month.

Jan Bartu, Pentathlon GB performance director, said: 'It was really tough from the start today. This closes this chapter of the World Cup Series. The World Cup Final is just around the corner and we are waiting for the final list of competitors.'

Gold in Berlin went to Germany's Olympic champion Lena Schoneborn, with France's double world champion Amelie Caze taking silver.
