THANK you so much for the generous support you have given to our daughter, Mia, in her work in the Nsanje area of Malawi, which is one of the poorest areas of one of the poorest countries in Africa.

Just the other day we read an article about recent crop failures in the Nsanje area and it reported that 25 children have died of malnutrition in the very hospital in which Mia volunteers.

When we visited Mia in March we were very moved to meet children who have been able to get a meal a day because of donations given by family and friends.

These feeding programmes, along with the building of Lundu school, will be supported by the generous contributions of Times readers.

Many people have commented that we must be proud of Mia and indeed we are but we are also grateful to be part of a community that will give help to others so far away.

Please accept our heartfelt thanks.

l The Times will be publishing an update on Mia's work and how the donations given by Times readers have been used as soon as communication with her can be re-established — currently her landline is broken and internet connection is only sporadic.
