South West one Tavistock A 3 St Austell 2 TAVISTOCK managed to get themselves back onto the winning track after a few recent disappointments. St Austell travelled up to Tavistock, fully aware of the importance of this match, as both teams had only won one game and were sitting very close to each other in the league. Tavistock started with great invention and determination and camped themselves in the visitors? half. Wave after wave of attacks were penetrating the St Austell D but somehow the ball was kept out of the goal. With great attacking play from new player Heard and linking between Holland, Daniels and Barratt a goal was eventually to come. Edwards fired in a short corner rebound to settle the nerves. Unfortunately with seconds to go before the break, St Austell broke away and equalised. However, this did not deter Tavistock, who started the second half in the same frame of mind. A goal by the slick Heard saw the lead reinstated but this was soon reduced after another quick breakaway by St Austell. Tavistock continued to pile pressure onto the visitors? D. Building from the back with Costello and Edwards and Crittenden, the Tavistock midfield of Honey and Richards created the impetus for another goal by Heard, which settled the jangling nerves and sealed the points.
