THE challenge has begun to design a logo for next year?s 900th anniversary celebrations of the Tavistock Market Charter.

Budding designers have until May 31 to send in their entries and the winning logo will be used for stationary, publicity and merchandise throughout the 2005 Charter Festival Year.

A huge range of events are planned for the anniversary including festivals, exhibitions and competitions and judges will be looking for a logo design which reflects some aspect of the history of Tavistock over the last 900 years as a market town and 700 years as a stannary town.

The judging panel will include a local professional artist as well as representatives from the Charter Festival Committee, Tavistock Town Council and West Devon Borough Council.

Logo designs will need to be a two dimensional image produced on A4 paper or card and adaptable enough to be reproduced in different sizes and/ or colours. Send or hand in your entries to Tavistock Library.
