TAVISTOCK is a nice town and many of us wish to keep it that way. It is however being destroyed by increasing heavy traffic.

My wife and I are getting on in years and are not so nimble as we used to be.

We have both had near escapes caused by aggressive drivers. The pedestrian crossing at the post office, where moving vehicles drive on only a few feet behind us as we cross, at times dangerously close.

Crossing the square and Drake Road we find particularly hazardous. All caused by our slow progress and inconsiderate drivers.

We never see policemen out on the streets, just watching. Is this too much to ask? We know they are in town, their many cars are always parked outside the police station. Maybe they can by persuaded to come out, stand around and watch over us all. Surely we deserve that.
