Tavistock 1st 3 Bridport 2 TAVISTOCK played host to Bridport Hawks who had not been having a good season until the last couple of weeks so the home team knew that they might be in for a tough game. The game started well for Tavistock who were looking the better side from the start. It was not long before Tavistock scored their first goal from a well worked move from the front two of Vinson and Rose who played the ball through the Bridport defence with ease to leave Rose with an open goal giving Tavistock an early lead. Much more was to come from the home side who were now looking more and more confident and penetrating the Bridport defence with speed that they could not handle. This led to Tavistock's second goal which fell to Vinson who slotted the ball nicely into the bottom right hand corner of the goal. A third goal was soon to follow from Rod MacDougall to open up his goal tally for the season and by this time Tavistock were in full control of the game at 3-0 and were cruising. The second half saw Bridport come at Tavistock hard with nothing to lose and determination to get themselves back into the game. Tavistock went into panic mode and let Bridport come straight back at them and were not marking as tightly as they should have been. This soon led to a Bridport revival and a goal to put them back into the match. Bridport continued to battle hard and further punished Tavistock with a second goal to bring the game down to a nail biting finish. However Tavistock continued to hold on to their lead right to the final whistle to gain three well deserved points which keeps them in second place and on the road to promotion.
