THE fantastic sum of £2,000 has been presented to the Young Devon's Young Carer project, following a successful ball held in Tavistock recently.

Rosemary and Gerald Whitehouse hosted their charity Rugby Ball in Tavistock Town Hall in March and raised a substantial sum for local good causes.

Youth Devon supports the many young people aged between 5 and 18 throughout West Devon who provide care for a parent, sibling, grandparent or other family member who may have a disability, long term illness or issues with drugs or alcohol.

'Caring for' can mean preparation of meals, shopping, cleaning, paying bills, helping with personal care and medication, or providing emotional support.

The Young Carers' Project provides advice, information and support to young carers, who can feel isolated, have little or no time to themselves and find it difficult to access social and leisure activities.
