WHAT do you think of the state of Tavistock?s litter bins? Should Betsy Grimbal?s tower get a good weeding? There?s an opportunity to have your say about these issues and more at a special open day being held in the town next week. Deputy town clerk Rosie Keyhoe said she hoped as many people as possible would come along to the town hall and give their views on the town?s monuments and street furniture ? part of a special on-going consultation run by the town council in an attempt to give residents a ?best value? service. Mrs Keyhoe said: ?Actually, street furniture and monuments aren?t the dry subjects you might think ? when you start talking about dog bins and litter bins people can start getting quite heated! ?We would really like to know how people would like to see the town?s street furniture and the monuments it holds enhanced or improved ? do they want their money being spent the way it is, and although it hasn?t come up yet, what about planters in the town?? Mrs Keyhoe said the consultation was open to everyone, of all ages ? she particularly hoped the town?s younger residents would get involved. ?We?ve had some input from some amazing students from Tavistock College who have really suggested a fair bit and I have written to the junior and primary schools,? said Mrs Keyhoe. The consultation day is being held in Tavistock Town Hall on Friday February 17 between 11am and 5pm. Coffee and biscuits will be served ? anyone who would like to know more about the event should call Rose Keyhoe at Tavistock Town Council on 01822 613529.
