THE final day of the public inquiry into plans to build three wind turbines close to Dartmoor is today (Thursday). Members of opposition group Okehampton and Dartmoor Against Turbines (ODAT) are urging as many people as possible to attend the inquiry?s last day in the Charter Hall. Energy firm West Coast Energy are appealing against the decision by West Devon Borough Council to refuse its proposal to build a trio of turbines at Yelland Farm, close to Okehampton. The original inquiry was heard in June, but the inquiry is being reconvened to hear some final evidence. Inspector Keith Smith will then complete his report before sending it to the Secretary of State to make the final decision. West Coast Energy say the proposed scheme would make a contribution towards meeting the renewable energy targets which have been set by the Government.
