EVERYONE knows supermarket trolleys seem to have a will of their own . . .
At the least, it's wonky wheels. But occasionally, wanderlust takes over, driving them to investigate the deep, dark recesses of car parks or the bed of the nearest river.
But staff at a Tavistock firm of accountants reckoned they'd seen it all when a particularly adventurous trolley was found perched up a tree in their office car park on Monday.
Linda Worsey, senior secretary at Francis Clark, said: 'We watched the trolley for the day to see if it was able to climb down on its own.
'After 24 hours, we realised that it would need to be rescued!'
The following morning, office partner Guy Talbot, assisted by his colleagues, climbed up the tree, attached a rope to the trolley and carefully lowered it to the ground.
They found the trolley generally unhurt by its aerial experience — it has since been reunited with its friends at a large supermarket on the outskirts of Tavistock.
