PEOPLE of all ages and abilities are being invited to attend taster sessions for the bowls-like sport, boccia.

The sessions are free to attend and there is no need to book, just turn up and play.

Hannah Colston, sports development officer for West Devon Borough Council, said: 'Boccia is a game similar to bowls, it can be played by people with or without disabilities. It's a non-contact, target driven sport, which relies on skill and subtlety, rather than size, strength or speed. It is because of this that it is equally suited to those with or without disability.'

The first session is on Monday December 7, 2pm to 3pm at the Wharf, Tavistock. The second session is on Monday December 21.

For more information contact Hannah Colston 01822 813628 or Christine, care assistant/ boccia helper on 01822 618724.
