HATS, gloves and pearls were the order of the day last Thursday, when 34 members of Stoke Climsland WI group enjoyed an afternoon at the cinema.
The ladies entered into the ?Calendar Girls? spirit with their jewellery and headgear, but kept the rest of their clothes firmly on ? unlike the heroines of the film, who famously stripped off for a WI charity calendar.
The group started their day out in Tavistock with a sherry tasting during the morning, thanks to the hospitality of Creber?s.
An ?absolutely outstanding? lunch was provided by the ladies of Tavistock WI in the parish centre, before the Stoke Climsland posse trooped along to the Wharf to watch the film.
It was the last day of a two-week run for Calendar Girls at the Wharf ? and it has proved a huge hit with West Devon residents.
Several other WI groups have come along to watch the film and many showings have been sold out, even during the afternoons.
Andy Norman, Wharf spokesman, said: ?Going on numbers it has certainly been one of the best, if not the best, film we have ever shown.
?We have done at least £12,500 worth of business on this film alone, so I think you could say we are very pleased with it.?
Calendar Girls will be returning to The Wharf on January 9 next year.
