Old Suttonians 2 Tavistock 2nds 3 TAVISTOCK were slow off the mark in this important game and conceded a goal in the tenth minute. Pressure continued from the home side and with Tavistock unable to control the mid-field or mount an attack, their defence buckled and Old Sutts added to their score 10 minutes later with a fine long range shot. Managing to regain some composure, Tavistock began to create a number of chances but failed to break down the home side?s tight defence. By the half time whistle it looked like Tavistock could be in for a rough ride for the last 45 minutes. Tavistock took the field for the second half like a team possessed, throwing themselves into the game with a passion and conviction that was sadly lacking in the first half. The home side looked shell-shocked and within five minutes Tavistock had pulled one back with a fine goal from Paul Cowling. With no let up from Tavistock a second goal came five minutes later, again with a fine run from Paul Cowling taking the ball around the keeper and placing it firmly in the back of the net. Old Sutts were now clearly rattled and failed to mount any serious threats against Tavistock?s, by now, confident defence. Tavistock?s third goal came in the 34th minute with a hat-trick from Paul Cowling. A sterling second half performance from Tavistock gave them a well deserved win and three very important points.
