MEMBERS of the Stannary Hash House Harriers (SH3) celebrated their 777th run recently. Started in 1991, this Tavistock-based Hash has provided many fun filled evenings and the 777 was no exception. The SH3 committee chose a ?Mexican and Gringos? theme, so a number of ponchos, drooping moustaches and other cowboy and Mexican apparel were worn. The run took place around Sharpitor with the highlight being a visit to a ?dry gulch? complete with ambush and a warming ?shot? of Tequila. After the run itself Stannary Hash retired to the Burrator Inn at Dousland ? quickly renamed ?The Burrito? for the evening ? where chilli, beans, rice and nachos were consumed. All runners, in any Hash, are ?given? a Hash name for use within the group and some of them received awards that evening including Scribe of the Year (Brain Cell), Hares of the Year ? given for the worst run in the last 12 months ?(Reservoir Doc and Wots Up Doc) and a plate for completing 100 runs (Kanga Pants). The final award went to Barmitzvah who was presented with a pewter tankard with an inscription to commemorate his 600th run with SH3, something which takes 13 or 14 years! In true Hash style the tankard was mis-spelt and will have to be redone. By coincidence the other Tavistock-based Hash, the lesser known TVH3, were also in the ?saloon? that evening. Thanks were expressed to the Burrator Inn for the meal.
