TAVISTOCK Town Hall was packed to capacity with 186 men and women at the end of last month, providing a suitably historic venue for the second joint Taste and See and Food for Thought event.
The speaker was Martin Cavender who spoke on the subject of science and faith and the relationship between the two subjects.
Formerly a lawyer, 17 years ago Martin moved to direct a work called 'Springboard' for the Archbishops of Canterbury and York in the UK and around the world. Four years ago he moved to direct 'Resource', a Christian organisation concerned with renewal of the individual, the church and transformation of the community.
As a lawyer, Martin is always looking for evidence and this is particularly true of the whole question of science and religion, reason and faith.
The subject provided the raw material for a very stimulating debate with a wide range of opinions represented.
Taste and See and Food for Thought are supper evenings for men and women organised by a committee representing churches in the Tavistock area — they are not clubs and all are welcome to attend.

The next Taste and See event will be held on Monday March 23 at the Ordulph Arms in Tavistock, when the speaker will be Sue Yendell, lecturer in mental health, University of Plymouth.
