East Devon A 1
Tavistock men's firsts 2
TAVISTOCK started the game in Exeter well, with periods of excellent passing between the defence and midfield.
Tom Harrold, Paul Marchant and Phil Edwards worked particularly hard to ensure that Tavistock retained possession. The visitor's efforts eventually paid off when a pass from Simon Marchant reached Harrold on the back post, who hit past the keeper to score the opening goal.
Although East Devon were able to break several times in the first half, they were denied easy opportunities on goal thanks to the co-operative effort of Tavistock's defence and the vigilance of keeper, Paul Mingo.
Constant pressure up front from Luke Daniels and Dom Stanbury resulted in a couple of short corners, one of which ended in a superb goal from Phil Edwards.
Throughout the second half East Devon became progressively more desperate to score. Despite this, and to their credit, the Tavistock side maintained their composure and continued to rebuff the majority of the home attacks.
However, a short corner was conceded and the resulting strike, although diverted by Carr, ended in a goal for East Devon.
The home team were denied an equaliser thanks to Tavistock's plentiful supply of substitutes and continued quality of play.
