Devon & Exeter Senior 4 South Zeal Utd 5 Uplowman 2 HAVING not played for several weeks, Zeal started slowly and for the first 20 minutes the visitors had most of the attacking play. Only some great defending by the home side, with Chris Stephens and Lee Gilbert outstanding and an assured start by Arnie Searle in the Zeal goal kept the scores level. As the first half progressed the Zeal forwards started to ask questions of the Uplowman defence and after several near misses a goal kick from Searle was flicked on by Harley Cann. Jerry Stephens ran through and finished well from the edge of the penalty area. With Zeal leading1-0 at half-time, the visitors started the second half well but were always vulnerable to a counter attack from the fast Zeal forwards. It was no surprise when Harley Cann beat his marker ten minutes into the second half, and finished with a great left foot shot that gave the Uplowman keeper no chance. The third came ten minutes later when from a throw-in a headed flick on was headed home at the near post by Roger White. Further goals from Harley Cann and Jerry Stephens made it 5-0 with 15 minutes to play. A late rally from the visitors saw them score two good goals to give the scoreline some respectability. This week Morchard Bishop at home, kick-off 2.15pm.
