Motel Rangers 3
Okehampton Argyle 3rds 2
A DISMAL end to a fine season. With promotion guaranteed a win was necessary to ensure the runners-up spot against fourth in the table.
Argyle struggled to raise a side and travelled under-strength. Early play saw both sides make chances with the defences looking shaky.
The home side were 1-0 up at half-time, scoring in the last minute against the run of play.
The second half saw Okehampton make plenty of chances but it was Motel who raced on scoring two more goals with Okehampton looking dejected.
Argyle then showed a bit of spirit and some fine work down the right wing saw Tim Shaw's accurate low cross side-footed home at the near-post by Mark Hitchen.
Rangers started to wobble and constant pressure saw them concede a second from an own goal header with Okehampton in total control.
Mark Gibson and Dean Garrett supplied endless passes to Okehampton's front pair and Dominique Vandendorpe battled in every tackle.
Okehampton almost shared the points when Jason Hare beat the offside trap but put his shot wide.
After dominating the second half Okehampton ran out of time and can only console themselves with their promotion on the first attempt from Inter V.
Man of the match: Jason Hare and Mark Gibson.
