Carlsberg South Western League Tavistock 1 Launceston 2 THE Lambs? poor form continues with this fourth consecutive home defeat. With injuries, suspensions and unavailability they drafted Jeff Babb out of retirement, Chris Short came back into the side with Craig Hodge from the P & WD side on the bench. John Morris shot over the bar after 12 minutes in this Good Friday game but it was the Clarets who opened the scoring minutes later when two ex-Lambs players combined. Tom Barwell fed the ball through to Lee Doncaster and despite appeals for offside he went on to slide the ball under Andy Meeds. Babb then saw his header from a Mike Arscott free kick go straight into the arms of keeper Matt Harris but the Lambs got back on level terms mid way through the first period. Babb was again on target and this time from a Gary Williams corner. He came to meet it with a diving header that flew in to the corner of the net despite the valiant attempt by Harrison to keep it out on the line. The game was evenly poised at half time but it changed after just four minutes. The Lambs had several attempts to clear their lines but a defensive error allowed the ball to come in low for Liam Tilley to miss hit and deceive Meeds. The visitors almost got a third with 20 minutes remaining but Steve Oliver?s header from a Barwell corner thumped against the far post and was cleared. The Lambs went close to gaining a point with 10 minutes remaining when Arscott sent a ball into the area for Stringer to out jump Harris to head goalwards only to see the ball go agonisingly the wrong side of the post. Another disappointing display from the Lambs but the Clarets fully deserved all the points. It now looks a really hard run to the end of the season.
