Woolwell U14s 1

Tavistock Town U14s 3

TAVISTOCK produced a solid and well disciplined all round performance to record their first away win of 2004 in a competitive game with both sides displaying a good attitude.

Tavistock had most of the possession in the first half yet tended to overcomplicate play at times after some weeks out of action.

Lyle was a constant threat down the right but it was Woolwell who went ahead after a foul on the edge of the box saw the free kick deflected into the net. Tavistock bounced back with Hammond scoring with a strong header following a corner taken by Lyle. A McCall free kick found its way through a crowded area and into the back of the net for the second.

There were opportunities to go further ahead before McCall headed in yet another corner just before half-time.

Woolwell were the better organised in a second half that was more evenly balanced. They took advantage of an extra player while Smurden was off the pitch recovering from an injury and two magnificent saves by Webber prevented them from getting back into the game.

Full backs Taylor and Kelly stopped moves down the flanks and Tavistock continued to threaten as Smith and McCall controlled midfield. This excellent win kept Tavistock top of the table.
