CELEBRATING with family and friends, Bere Alston resident Nora Tyler reached her 100th birthday recently.
Born in 1911 in Lancashire as one of four children, Nora moved to Surrey in 1937 with her new husband Harry.
They brought up their family of two sons and one daughter and have subsequently enjoyed eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Nora and Harry have been happily married for 74 years and retired to Bere Alston around 20 years ago to enjoy the Devon Countryside and to be closer to their eldest son who lives in Tavistock.
Joining her for her celebration were her family and some close friends. Many travelled from all over the UK and some from Australia to wish Nora a happy centenary.
