PRINCETOWN held its first Ale Festival last weekend, appropriately enough called Hail the Ale.

The event was held at the Community Centre on Saturday.

Dartmoor Brewery's Christmas Ale won the festival's beer competition, under the name of Burrator Beast.

Summerskills' Indiana Bones came second and Dartmoor Brewery's Jail Ale came third.

The Dartmoor Border Morris Dancers entertained in the afternoon and Yelverton-based band The Normals provided the music for the evening.

The event was a great success and the organisers are now planning a Winter Ale Festival combined with a Christmas Fair, which will take place on Saturday, December 7.
