Duchy Premier Gunnislake 7 St Merryn 0 GUNNISLAKE carried on where they had left off when recording their excellent win last time out against Torpoint to demolish a struggling St Merryn side. The hosts were four nil up by the turnaround, a fifth came inside two minutes of the restart and goals six and seven came in the last 15 minutes of the game. St Merryn battled all the way to keep the score down although they were unable to trouble Jay Richmond in the Gunnislake goal except for one shot on target all afternoon that Richmond easily dealt with. Having recently moved back to the area, Nathan Dore led the goalscoring with a hat-trick. Jarryd Kelly, Ash Dobson and Shane Maton all found the target once with Nathan May for the home side completing the scoring from the penalty spot. Duchy Knockout Cup Gunnislake 4 Pensilva 2 (after extra time) THIS all premier division clash saw these two sides produce a hard fought, competitive and entertaining encounter with, as always is the case between these opponents, there being little between the sides. Gunnislake were much the better side in the opening 20 minutes and established the lead when an Ash Dobson cross come shot deflected off a Pensilva defender in to the net. Pensilva gradually came back into the game and equalised when Jack Podmore went through and slotted past Jay Richmond on 32 minutes. Soon after Pensilva thought they had the lead when Richmond parried a shot into the path of an onrushing attacker who tapped home from close range only for a offside flag to deny him. By the break Gunnislake had spurned a great opportunity to regain the advantage when Nathan May's spot kick brought a good save. Both teams had chances either side of a 60th minute Podmore goal for Pensilva. With just five minutes to go the home side pushed forward and grabbed a deserved equaliser with a cracking 18 yard strike from Jarryd Kelly. In to extra time and Gunnislake came through to claim victory as their superior fitness proved a vital factor. George Leighton headed home a Stef Kelly corner before Jarryd fired home another excellent goal with a good low drive. This third straight win again saw Gunnislake again produce a really good all round team performance and they will look to continue this run and form this Saturday when they host Roseland with a 2.30pm kick off. l Gunnislake's reserve side travelled to promotion rivals Nanpean and a three nil defeat left them with a long drive home knowing that their match on Saturday against division four leaders Gorran away, 2.30pm kick-off, is a must win match.
