CHRISTMAS is coming and there?s a reminder this week that the Guides will once again be carrying out their popular deliveries of Christmas cards in the Tavistock and Whitchurch area.
The special blue stamps and boxes will be available from Monday December 2 at all Guide meeting places and at Lake Pharmacy in West Street, Superdrug in Duke Street, Tavistock Launderette, Crelake Stores in Whitchurch Road and at Edwin Clark Optician on Plymouth Road.
The stamps remain just 15p each and posting closes at 5pm on December 20, enabling the Guides to deliver cards during the weekend of December 21 and 22. Senders should ensure cards are labelled clearly.
Kate Harding of Tavistock Guides said: ?Last year the girls delivered over 7,000 cards within Tavistock town and Whitchurch village and this Christmas, they hope that with a later closing date, this total will rise.?
Helping will be Tavistock?s Rainbow groups and six Brownie packs.
Kate said many girls would like to join the three existing Guide units but a shortage of adult leaders is often a problem. Anyone interesting in helping contact the district commissioner, Kay Harrison, on 01822 615656.
