THERE will be something to entertain the entire family at Peter Tavy Village Fayre this Bank Holiday Monday (August 27).

The annual fayre opens at 2pm and is clustered in and around the village hall and methodist chapel. Visitors will find a host of games, stalls, home-made refreshments, demonstrations and displays of competition entries.

The ‘Dartmoor Teddy Bears’ Dangerous Sports Association’ is back and this year, teddy bears will be challenged to join the crew of a Lancaster aeroplane on a ‘goal busters’ mission, seeking to drop a bouncing football into the back of the goal net.

Meanwhile, people will get the chance to browse through the ‘white elephants’ on the Granny’s attic stall, or pick up a bargain on the plants and garden, books and jams and preserves stalls.

Take part in the tombola, raffle, traditional coconut shy and skittle alley, or the duck race along the Colley Brook through the centre of the village.

With 15 competition categories to be judged, pop into the village hall to admire the skills of the entrants at crafts, art, writing, flower arranging, garden produce and cookery — including the fiercely-contested annual cake competition.

Alongside the fayre, the annual Peter Tavy Plod footrace and fun run will take place on the day, starting at 1pm.
