STUDENTS of Tavistock's All Out Performing Arts joined forces with All Out students in Callington to stage a special show at the Devonport Playhouse in Plymouth.
'In The Post' was devised by the students themselves then scripted and directed by the company. Supported by members of the 'SJS School of Dance' the cast ran to more than 100 performers.
Julian Barnicoat, one of All Out's artistic directors, said: 'We used the post as our theme and our starting point. We had a great time playing around with ideas and characters, investigating every possible angle of the postal service from historical times to the present day.
'This took us to some exciting locations including sorting offices, post offices, country houses in the 18th century, a Post Museum and many more. It's exciting to create a major performance from nothing and this is something we specialise in. Most importantly, it gives us the opportunity to develop the skills and abilities of every single performer. We don't do shows with principals and chorus parts because we want to make sure that in our shows everyone is valued, learns and develops. That's our ethos and after 17 years of creating performances we are happy to say it really works.'
All Performing Arts are embarking a show this summer term and holding their arts summer school in Tavistock. Courses take place on Friday evenings at Kingdon House and anyone between the ages of 6 to 19 is welcome. The company also teaches singing, achieving passes in examinations with the London College of Music.
