Bodmin Trophies Duchy division 4 east
Mary Tavy 4
St Dominick 1
THOSE watching this game from the touchline were posed a half-time dilemma of whether to sit through another 45 minutes or join the madding confusion of Christmas shopping — the latter probably being the best option on the day.
Mary Tavy squandered several chances and could not break down the spoiling tactics of the away team. It was 25 minutes before the first real opportunity knocked with Neil Piper seeing his shot fiercely strike the side netting.
Two more chances went begging before the half with Piper and Coole, both with only the keeper to beat, failed to even hit the target.
Thankfully, Alan Grylls saved their blushes opening the scoring five minutes into the second half and the relief was almost deafening as the frustration of the home team was building.
Grylls went on to complete a superb hat-trick to bring his tally to 17 so far. Dan Brockington scrambled the fourth and the game was all but over with Tavy opting to give all their subs a run out.
A highly contested consolation was claimed at the death by the Saints who to their credit never gave up.
