A BERE Action Group has been set up to fight plans for a community watersports centre on land at Weir Quay.
The group has been formed following a public meeting last week where residents were urged to make their views known.
A planning application for the project being spearheaded by the Weir Quay Community Watersports Hub Club is due to be considered shortly by West Devon Borough Council.
The project seeks to provide a new base for the sailing club and the Tamar and Tavy Gig Club next to the public hard at Weir Quay.
The sailing club lost its clubhouse two years ago when the lease expired.
But there are concerns from members of the Friends of Weir Quay group that the scheme will be inappropriate in an area of outstanding natural beauty and noted for its tranquillity.
The Bere Action Group wants to hear from local residents who support its action and can be contacted at: [email protected]">[email protected] or 01822 840450.
