ALL of the 92 football league grounds dotted around England and Wales are stops on the road for a determined fundraiser from Inwardleigh.
Peter Cooper, currently taking on the 'Cycling the 92' challenge alongside his university friend David Clarke, will have pedalled around 2,500 miles to raise awareness and funds for Edgar's Gift, a charity which provides support for young adults between the ages of 18 and 30 who are suffering from cancer.
On the mammoth trip he will visit all 92 football league grounds.
The duo have already cycled more than 400 miles of their trip, starting on June 1 at Northampton Town.
As they undertook their challenge, the duo were interviewed by Hayley McQueen from Sky Sports News, and have continued to generate a lot of interest on their trip. Upon their visit to Wolverhampton Wanderer's Molineux Stadium, the duo received a stadium tour and were given a signed photo collection to auction off for their charity. This week, the team have visited Plymouth Argyle, Exeter City and Torquay United.
Edgar's Gift was set up in memory of David's step-brother Ben Edkins, who died aged 25 after a year-long battle with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of muscle cancer.
In preparation for their challenge, Peter and David set up a cycling club at Bournemouth University.
With the major costs of the challenge having been met, the way is now clear for all money raised to go straight to the young adults who are supported by Edgar's Gift.
If there are any individuals or businesses who would like to sponsor the remaining costs please call Marilyn Cooper on 01837 53305. Peter and David will ensure all sponsors are mentioned in the promotion of Cycling the 92 and Edgar's Gift.
The fundraising team expressed great thanks to Blackacre Farm Eggs of Somerset, who sponsored the cost of the team's support vehicle. This will be provided by the Motorhome Group, who have given a generous discount on their hiring rates.
