FREE recycling training days for teachers are being offered by Devon County Council's Waste Management team next month. The popular events are aimed at teachers wanting to learn more about recycling and composting in schools. The training course has been running for the past four years and in that time, teachers who have attended have gone on to establish successful recycling schemes and gained confidence about teaching recycling or composting in their schools. Cllr Margaret Rogers, Devon County Council executive member for environment, said: 'Devon's residents have embraced recycling and their incredible support has resulted in a fantastic 50% recycling rate for the first 6 months of the financial year. 'These training days are intended to support the invaluable recycling work that Devon's teachers are already doing in promoting the message to reduce, reuse and recycle in schools. 'Their teaching can help future generations meet the county council's ambition to make Devon even greener and help save the planet. 'Teachers attending last year's events gained a lot from the course, many of them commenting that it was a "super informative day".' Four events are planned, two will be held at Great Moor House in Exeter on Tuesday March 18 and Wednesday March 19, and two days at the Civic Centre in Barnstaple on Wednesday March 26 and Thursday March 27.
