THE Green Party?s top European Parliament candidate in the South West visited Tavistock last Saturday.

David Taylor, who heads the party?s list of Westcountry candidates for next year?s European elections, attended a ?peace and justice? event in Bedford Square, organised by Tavistock Peace Action Group.

Later, Mr Taylor, who narrowly missed out on election in the 1999 European elections, attended the annual meeting of the West Devon Green Party.

There, he met local farmers, Robert and Carol Bradford, whose application for planning permission for two wind turbines near Lamerton was rejected earlier this year.

Mr Taylor said he would give full support to the Bradford?s revised application, saying there was an ?urgent need? for more forms of renewable energy.
