IT has been a fantastic year for the Royal British Legion Bere Alston branch. Our Poppy Appeal collection has been the best ever! A total of £1505.52 has been collected, by a very dedicated number of people, who each year go out in all sorts of weather to achieve these kind of figures.
The collectors give up their own time to do this, it is all voluntary and they do not receive payment. Yet year after year they come back to do this on our behalf. A lot of them are not legion members. On behalf of the Bere Alston branch committee I would like to thank, once again, all these people for helping us to make this Poppy Appeal so successful.
The branch would also like to thank all of the people on the Bere
Peninsula and the surrounding area, for giving so generously. Your money is used and spent wisely, on supporting those servicemen and women?s dependents, who gave their lives on our behalf, to make this world a better place for us to live in. It also helps us to support those men and women who have come home with serious injuries. Some of these people live amongst us in this locality. This year the Royal British Legion are hoping to raise £2-million. That money and a lot more will go towards helping a very good and needy cause. Thank you.
