MID Devon Riding Club had a good result at the area 19 Hunter trial qualifier held at Chyverton Park near Truro on October 1. With a team of only three in the novice section, which meant that there was no score that could be discarded, they took second place. The team consisted of Carolyn Vernon on Bondleigh Royal Minx, Caroline Friend on Titus and Kim Bland on Young Winston, with Kim being the only rider in the section to finish under the optimum time. Carolyn and Kim also did well individually, with Carolyn on Bondleigh Royal Minx, stable name Pippin, who is bred and owned by Mrs Jane Field, taking overall first place. This means she qualifies for the championship to be held in Northamptonshire next June. Kim took third place. Caroline Friend also competed in the open section.
