LAST?month, 11 local, Tavistock based, charities held the 26th annual charity bonanza at Tavistock Pannier Market, raising funds to help local people.

On behalf of the event organisers, Friends of TASS, can I thank all who came along to the market on the day and supported these local charities. You will be glad to know that all of the money donated will go to help local people.

While we do not yet know the total money raised, it is expected to be in the region of £3,500 to £4,000.

I will also take the opportunity to thank all of the volunteers (on the day and those involved in the event preparations), Tavistock Town Council for their support, and Dwayne Carruthers, the market reeve and his staff for their continued help and advice.

Once again, Tavistock residents have shown their complete support and understanding for community and charitable organisations.

This area of the country must surely be the ‘jewel in the crown’ when it comes to supporting others in our community. Thank you all very much.
