APPLEDOWN House Bed and Breakfast, based just outside Lamerton, have just been awarded the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence 2015.

Owners Dave and Gil Martin say they are thrilled as this is the second time they have won the award – the first being in 2013 – and all thanks to the lovely reviews left on Trip Advisor by their guests.

Dave said: 'We've had some wonderful people come to stay with us who've said some very nice things about our small B & B and who've also booked as a direct result of these reviews.

'We're absolutely thrilled to have won the award for a second time!'

Dave and Gil opened their B & B in June 2009 and 'hit the ground running'.

Despite the slowdown in the economy, they are extremely pleased with the level of business and return clientele they have built up over the last six years and are now seeing bookings pick up in line with the economic upturn.

Dave said: 'We pride ourselves on comfortable, clean, well presented rooms, with a fabulous, locally sourced produce breakfast including fresh free-range eggs from our own flock of chickens, home-made bread and yoghurt, as well as golden butter from the farm.'
