Tavistock B 2 Liskeard 4 AFTER a run of defeats Tavistock wanted to get back to winning ways and with Liskeard on the same amount of points as Tavistock, this was always going to be a hard fought game. With some key players missing from the squad especially in the midfield, Tavistock had to opt for a slightly different line up. Curno and Ali, who took over central positions, battled hard to disrupt the Liskeard attacks. Tavistock struggled to find the fluent play of earlier games in the season and had to defend in numbers to keep out the Liskeard forwards. By the end of the first half they found themselves three nil down — unable to get into Liskeard's garden let alone be knocking on the front door. As the second half got under way seeds had already been sown for tempers to flair, and a number of players were yellow carded. Although the game lost its way, Tavistock fought hard to get back into the match and with a superbly taken individual goal from Holland morale was soon lifted. Glanville organised the home defence and worked hard to prevent problems arising from the Liskeard wingers. Liskeard managed one more goal and had secured the three points but Tavistock kept going right to the end and with the seconds counting down Mackintosh scored Tavistock's second from a short corner. This proved to be the last attack of the game with the final whistle going moments later. l Tavistock will again be tested this Saturday as they travel to Plymouth to play second in the table PGSOBs.
