A FUN-FILLED day of activities and exhibitions are in the pipeline for East Cornwall?s more mature residents this month. The Antique Folk Show, held at Cotehele House on October 14, aims to help the over-60s remain independent later in life. On offer during the show will be great gardening advice, healthy hobbies and exciting exhibits. More than 30 organisations will be on hand with information and displays covering everything from home energy conservation and safety to healthy eating and hobbies. The show will celebrate both indoor and outdoor activities, with a main focus on gardening. The BBC Gardeners? Question Time expert Nigel Pascoe will be there and there will also be a guided walk around Cotehele?s famous gardens in the afternoon. In addition, the exhibition includes driver and pedestrian reaction tests by Devon and Cornwall Police, plus fire safety advice courtesy of Cornwall Fire Brigade. There is also a chance for dog owners to bring their dogs in for microchipping by Caradon?s animal welfare officers at just £10 per chip. This means that lost dogs can be easily reunited with their owners in the future. Cllr Marge Schikowsky, Caradon?s ambassador for older people said: ?All of the agencies involved want to improve the safety and quality of life of our older residents, and the exhibition helps to do this in an entertaining way.? The free event takes place from 10am ? 4pm. For more information contact Pat Gormley on (01579) 348749.
