THE sun shone for this year's country fair and clay pigeon shoot at the Old Station House near Hatherleigh, in aid of Exeter Leukaemia Fund. Rain had dogged last year's event, so organisers Susie and Rupert Lascelles were delighted that the 700 or so people who turned up last Saturday could enjoy the wide variety of country pursuits and stalls in dry, pleasant surrounding. Approximately £6,000 was taken on the day, which included competitive and clay pigeon shooting for teams and individuals, a freestyle dog display by K9, a dog show, a bird of prey display, a casting competition and archery. Mrs Lascelles started the fair and shoot four years ago. She has been treated as a leukaemia patient over the last seven years and said she realised how wonderful ELF was. 'The backup they give to the Haematology Department at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital is phenomenal, not forgetting they paid for 64 per cent of the building,' she said.
