DURING three days of competition at the City of Plymouth Championships last month, 19 members of Tavistock Swimming Club achieved 12 first places, 11 second places and 14 third places between them in their various age groups.

Top performances came from Kieran Rookes, who broke the age group record in each of the three breaststroke events, and Matt Edwards, who also broke the age group record in the 100m, 400m and 1500m freestyle events. Kieran also went on to take fifth place in the championship final of the 100m breaststroke and Matt came third and sixth respectively in the 100m freestyle and 100m butterfly championship finals.

Also competing and gaining several personal bests were Emily and Jake France, Amber Francis, Gemma Arundel, Emily Attfield, Megan Groom, Chloe Marks, Sophie and James Anderson, Harriet Edwards, Luke Stephens, Pete Jarman, Cameron McGurk, Nathaniel Rookes, Bret Bassett, Michael Best and Gareth Williams.
